Alec Greven is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in Chicago, IL. As a professional in education and governance, Alec served as a former research fellow at the Institute for Free Speech in Washington, DC, where his work focused on free expression and public assembly. Alec earned his JD from the University of Chicago School of Law and his Masters in Public Policy from the University of Oxford. Now, he brings his academic and professional insights to his role as a Graduate Coach.
During his Master’s program, Alec researched international law and freedom of speech as a Jepson Scholar. His writing has appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Arizona Republic, and was featured on syndicated radio. Throughout his schooling, Alec was actively involved in campus work as a Senator and Vice President of Academic Affairs in student government. He also served on a general education curriculum committee—working with faculty and administrators to redesign and improve the liberal arts curriculum. Throughout university, Alec advised dozens of students on how to improve their writing for college applications and guided students to admission at schools like Oxford, Virginia, Duke, and George Mason.
As a Graduate Coach, Alec combines his background in policy, leadership, and writing to help students convey their academic stories. He takes an analytical approach to counseling, helping students identify their goals and working to guide them toward success. Alec supports his students with passion and understanding—fostering a growth-oriented mindset that his mentees can use to reach success in their academic and professional journeys.
