Hi! I’m Amy, a DPhil (PhD) student in Psychiatry at the University of Oxford and a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, but have lived in Oxford for the past six years, so now consider it my second home!
I received a First Class BA in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford, taking various courses from social psychology to behavioural neuroscience. As a student I enjoyed working for a local social action charity as their Events Coordinator, writing for a student magazine on global health issues, and was awarded a Music Scholarship for violin by Magdalen College for the final two years of my degree. I also volunteered as an Outreach and Access Ambassador for Magdalen for three years, giving application advice to high school students interested in applying to Oxford.
After graduating I stayed within the university, working as a Research Assistant for two world-leading research groups in child mental health. My PhD research focuses on anxiety disorders in teenagers. I was awarded a full scholarship for this by the UK Medical Research Council.
In my spare time, I love playing my violin, reading novels, running, and planning my next travel adventure. I’m hard-working, bubbly, and outgoing, and I look forwards to meeting you and helping you achieve your academic goals!
