Annie Lord is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. She graduated from Brown University with dual BA degrees in International and Public Affairs: Policy and Governance and English Nonfiction. She received honors in English Nonfiction for her thesis, “Making Belief”.
For the past year, she has been living and working in Huimilpan, Querétaro, México, as a Fulbright-García Robles English Teaching Assistant, teaching English to high school students. As an experienced educator both in and out of the classroom, Annie brings creativity and dedication to her role as a Graduate Coach, working with students to develop and craft their stories as they work towards the next step in their educational journey.
While at Brown University, Annie was a Leader and Manager for Brown Outdoor Leadership Training (BOLT), a program that specializes in building community and leadership opportunities for new and returning sophomore students through experiences backpacking and camping in the backcountry. She also worked as a student liaison and group leader for RailRoad, a group that supported currently and formerly incarcerated individuals in Rhode Island.
Annie also has experience as a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) student, an outdoor laborer on a guest ranch in Argentina and a small farm in upstate New York, and Intern Group Leader for LITA, a Spanish-immersion program for high-school students based in rural Spain. Prior to university, Annie was involved in New Sanctuary Coalition, a non-profit organization that supported immigrants seeking asylum. In the coming year, Annie will be working as an elementary school teacher in Guadalajara, Mexico.
As a Graduate Coach, Annie strives to support high-school students as they think creatively and expansively about their interests and curiosities. She works collaboratively with her students to guide them as they explore their unique passions, and works with them to tell their authentic stories. Annie is a dedicated coach who aims to help students improve their writing and editing skills, as well as develop the confidence and self-knowledge that will help them thrive at their top-choice schools.
