About Aviva Diamond

Aviva Diamond, Ph.D. is a Former Admissions Officer with InGenius Prep based in Pittsburgh. She has a diverse background in science, public policy, and education. She is dedicated to helping students approach the admissions process with clarity, confidence, and authenticity, drawing from her experience evaluating applications across five distinct cycles. She has reviewed applications for Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science and College of Engineering, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Cornell University’s Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy.

Raised in the NYC metro area, Aviva studied classical piano with a Juilliard-affiliated teacher and performed a senior recital at the Hackley School. At Oberlin College, she double majored in Neuroscience and Religion, embracing the interplay of creativity and precision. Aviva believes what looks effortless is often the result of steady discipline and long-term goal setting. Her passion for science and big questions led to research roles at Columbia University and earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Stony Brook University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed papers throughout her scientific career.

She earned an M.S. in Health Care Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College and was elected to the school board in a top-ranked Pennsylvania district. Across every role—scientist, policymaker, advisor—she’s worked to build equitable, sustainable communities. She brings this wide-ranging experience to InGenius Prep, where she collaborates with students and families to find colleges that reflect both who they are and who they hope to become.
