Hello, my name is Bridget E. Hamill. I recently received my PhD in Higher Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and University. I also previously earned a Master’s in Higher Education from Columbia University Teacher’s College, as well as Bachelor’s in Economics from St. Lawrence University. My career in Higher Education has been student-focused and I love working one-on-one with students. Prior to attending graduate school, I was an Assistant Director of Admissions at St. Lawrence University, my alma mater, and an International Admissions Counselor for Hollins University.. Educational access is my passion and I am a true believer that school and program fit are paramount. Finding a school or program where a student feels at home and really can dig in always feels like a BIG WIN!
During my time as a graduate student, I worked on multiple college access and student success projects. I have tutored students in a variety of topics and taught multiple sections of a student success course at Virginia Tech. Seeing my students succeed is one of my greatest pleasures!
In my free time, I am the Nominating Director for the JLRV, and a member of both the Parent’s Admission Counsel and the Parents Association at my childrens’ school. I enjoy reading non-fiction (if I don’t fall asleep), family time, and wrangling my pack of dogs.
