Daphne Shaw is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep. She earned her B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine, and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Applied and Computational Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University. She is especially passionate about computational/mathematical biology, as well as linear algebra. As an international student who grew up in Asia before moving to the U.S. for her studies, Daphne brings a highly relatable, firsthand perspective to the international students she supports. Fluent in Mandarin and English, her approach to coaching is empathetic and tailored to each individual, ensuring that every student feels supported in navigating their educational journey.
Daphne’s previous teaching experience includes being a Teaching Assistant at an SAT preparatory school, specializing in English reading comprehension, grammar, and mathematics. Her one-on-one students consistently achieved significant academic improvement through her teaching, which primarily focused on encouragement and drawing out unique strengths.
Daphne’s coaching philosophy is centered on empowering students to navigate the often daunting graduate admissions process with confidence. She excels at helping applicants craft unique and compelling portfolios, as well as providing detailed feedback on admissions essays.
