Guadalupe Arevalo is a PhD Advisor with InGenius Prep and a current PhD student in Art History at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on Modern Art, Aesthetics, and Latin American art, with a particular interest in the intersection of philosophy, modernism, and transnational artistic exchanges. She holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Navarra, where she earned Dean’s List honors four consecutive years, received two competitive national awards from the Spanish Ministry of Education, and graduated with a thesis awarded the Laura Bassi scholarship for publication. She went on to earn her MA in Management and Research of Cultural Heritage from the Complutense University of Madrid on a full scholarship.
Guadalupe has built an unusually wide-ranging record of professional experience across the international art world. She has conducted archival research as a Senior Researcher for the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation’s Catalogue Raisonné, with a forthcoming contribution to Volume 1 of Josef Albers’ Paintings Catalogue Raisonné. She has worked as an Exhibition Support Specialist at Sotheby’s in New York and as a Graduate Research Intern in the Research and Exhibitions Department at David Zwirner Gallery. Earlier in her career, she served as a Development Intern at the Friends Foundation of the Prado Museum in Madrid, supporting a donor stewardship program of 43,000 members, and as a Gallery Intern at Marlborough Gallery, where she processed a €500,000 sale at the ARCO Madrid art fair as the gallery’s representative.
Her scholarly and curatorial credentials extend further still. During the 59th Venice Biennale, she co-curated the exhibition “If I have died of whom do I ask the time” as part of the Venice Curatorial Course. She has served as a researcher in the “Art and Social Transformation” project of the Aesthetics and Contemporary Art Research Fellowship at the University of Navarra and as co-manager of its annual aesthetic congress. Her published work includes art critiques in Revista Transfiguración and I AM Art House Journal, alongside a book review in Nuestro Tiempo.
As a PhD Advisor, Guadalupe brings firsthand knowledge of both the academic path and the professional art world, having navigated elite graduate admissions, won nationally competitive scholarships, and built a career spanning museums, auction houses, galleries, and foundations across two continents. She is passionate about helping students strengthen their applications, articulate their intellectual interests, and find their place within art history, the humanities, and the broader cultural sector. A native speaker of both Spanish and English with proficiency in French and Italian, she is especially well-positioned to support international applicants navigating this process.
