I earned my Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge in the Natural Sciences Tripos, covering a diverse range of topics including Biological Anthropology, Vertebrate Evolution, Entomology, and the History and Philosophy of Science. In the summer of 2017, I interned at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., where I worked on the Weevils of Madagascar Biodiversity Project, a joint project with the USDA Systematic Entomology Laboratory.
Teaching is a passion of mine. In my time at Nanjing International School, I have coached International Baccalaureate students on creative writing and personal statement writing. I believe that the personal statement is one of the most important components of any university application, with the power to highlight a student’s achievements, personality traits, and enthusiasm for their subject. Earlier this year, I received my TEFL teaching certification and have been teaching English inChinese migrant schools as part of the Stepping Stones initiative. While living in the UK, I was also an illustration workshop instructor at The Cause and New River Studios in Tottenham, London. Currently, I work as a Business English teacher at Accor Plus in Shanghai.
I am fluent in both English and Mandarin, having lived in the USA, UK, and China. Previously, I lived in Nanjing for 8 years and was the first student from my school to gain acceptance to Oxbridge. This experience has provided me with invaluable insight into the challenges faced by international students when applying for universities in the UK, and I aim to use this insight to help Chinese students work toward their goals of attending their dream schools. In my free time, I enjoy writing, bouldering, traveling, DJing, and drawing, but I am on the constant lookout for new hobbies.
