Joy Fernandez is a Former Admissions Officer with InGenius Prep who holds an MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University. In addition, she holds a BA in Psychology and Gender Studies, with a minor in History, from Lawrence University. Joy was introduced to the admissions process as an undergraduate student by hosting prospective students to help them understand college experience, and this set her on a journey in helping others explore which university is right for them.
Professionally, Joy has 10+ years of experience reading for undergraduate and graduate admissions at Northwestern University. She also has experience reading undergraduate applications for the University of Michigan. Joy has enjoyed guiding students in determining if a particular program is the right fit for them, and learning about each individual student’s motivations and interest in a program. As a consultant, Joy has enjoyed getting to know her students deeply in order to help ensure their applications materials capture their interests and background as much as possible. In addition to her background in admissions, Joy has worked in various student affairs and academic advising roles at Northwestern. In addition, she has worked in the tech industry at a large social media company.
Joy demonstrates a strong passion for working with students and helping them build the best possible application through her work and dedication. At InGenius Prep, she enjoys helping students discover all the different pathways that can lead to personal and professional success, and providing the resources and strategies to achieve their goals.
