Hi, I’m Megan! I am a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep, and am currently living in Asheville, NC. I recently graduated with my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. I am passionate about teaching and working with students to achieve their goals.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University in 2008, and spent my first few years out of college working in healthcare consulting. I then received a Princeton in Asia Fellowship, through which I spent a year working for a local public health NGO in Vietnam. Since studying abroad in college, I have been fascinated by learning about and immersing myself in foreign cultures, and decided to continue living in Southeast Asia after finishing my fellowship. Over the next two years, I worked on the Thai-Burma border, helping refugee students prepare to take the GED and apply to colleges. My experiences working with these students helped me develop my passion for teaching, and I spent the next few years participating in a teacher training program in Boston and then teaching math and reading in the Cayman Islands. Throughout these experiences, I was inspired by my work with students with disabilities, and decided to pursue my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy so that I could better serve these students. While back in school, I worked as an SAT and ACT tutor for 3 years and provided guidance to students applying to college. I love that the roles of occupational therapist, tutor, and graduate student coach all allow me to develop close relationships and provide individualized instruction to my students.
In my free time, I love to travel and explore the outdoors with my two pups, Gumbo and Lola. I also enjoy reading young adult novels, watching scary movies from the ’90s, and trying to cook Thai food.
