Rae Deveney is a Former Admissions Officer at InGenius Prep based in New York City. As a professional in the field of college admissions, consulting, and law, Rae holds an undergraduate degree in History from Tufts University, and her approach to counseling is guided by her passion for supporting students and seeing them succeed in higher education. In her role as the Admissions Counselor for Tufts University, Rae oversaw the applications of thousands of students yearly. Now, she works to aid students in the application process and give them the best chance for acceptance at their dream school.
At Tufts, Rae was a member of the inaugural cohort of Laidlaw Scholars, receiving research funding and leadership training, and conducted research on Byzantine land grant policy. There, she was involved in numerous political, social, and research organizations, and became an Admissions Fellow, working to support student outreach. On the international team, Rae was part of the small team tasked with recruiting and reading the applications of students outside of the US. In this role, she contributed to the reviews of over 2,000 students each year and gained a nuanced understanding of the many challenges that face international applicants.
In her counseling role, Rae is passionate about uplifting students’ diverse voices and experiences. Her background in humanities research makes her determined to advocate for students who seek to study humanities at the undergraduate level. With a compassionate and insightful approach to counseling, Rae is dedicated to empowering her students and amplifying their unique voices as they strive for excellence in their academic journeys.
