Samar Fahmy is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep based in Spain.
As a professional, Samar brings over two decades of experience in higher education to her role as a counselor. She earned her Master’s in Environmental Education at Universidad de Málaga in Spain and a BA in Political Science from the University of California. With her prior roles in outreach, recruitment, and admissions, Samar is dedicated to meeting students wherever they are in their educational journey and helping them work toward their academic, professional, and personal goals.
Over the past 15 years, Samar honed her counseling skills in various roles, including serving at Stanford University. There, she organized successful programs, helped trainees develop critical thinking skills, and enhanced their strategic planning for personal and professional advancement. As the Assistant Director of Graduate Educational Programs and Diversity at Stanford Medicine, Samar significantly contributed to the academic journey of prospective graduate students in the biosciences. For over five years, Samar has also aided students directly in a one-on-one environment as a volunteer Essay Coach, helping high school students craft compelling personal statements for undergraduate degree applications.
As a Graduate Coach, Samar takes a systematic approach to helping her mentees. She poses key questions, guides her students to critically reflect on their experiences and values, and facilitates the identification, clarification, and articulation of their educational and professional aspirations. Her goal while working with students across the world has been to identify their best selves and work with students to help them reach those heights. In her coaching role, Samar continues to excite, empower, and inspire students to reach their fullest potential.
