Shawna-Kaye Lester is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep who works with ambitious college applicants. She brings deep experience in college admissions, having served as an Alumni in Admission interviewer since 2008 and as a Senior Admission Fellow for her alma mater, Bates College.
Having worked as an independent admissions consultant and writing coach since 2008, Shawna-Kaye is passionate about delivering results. She provides each student with personalized advising, working closely with high school students and their parents to strategically use every year of high school to maximize success in the college admissions process. For seniors, she helps identify and apply to colleges that align with their academic, personal, and financial needs.
A 2008 Jamaica Rhodes Scholar finalist, Shawna-Kaye completed undergraduate studies at Bates College in Maine and holds both an M.S. in Journalism and an M.P.H. from Columbia University in New York. Shawna-Kaye has also helped students earn more than US$40 million in scholarships and funding to attend some of the world’s most prestigious colleges and universities.
As a Graduate Coach, Shawna-Kaye is especially passionate about teaching students how to write memorable college application essays. She believes writing is a powerful, foundational skill that supports both college and long-term career success.
