Yvonne is a Graduate Coach with InGenius Prep and received her Master’s in International Education Policy from Harvard University and her BA in Psychology and Linguistics from Duke University. Born and raised in France, with a family of Chinese heritage, Yvonne currently resides in Vietnam. She is fluent in both English and French. During her time at Duke University, Yvonne was the President of the International Student Association, worked as a research assistant in a language development lab, and studied abroad in China twice, collecting data for her senior thesis.
Upon graduation from Duke, she was offered a position as a technical staff member in a research lab at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan, where she worked for two years. She then enrolled at Tsinghua University in Beijing for a year to study Mandarin intensively. During this time, she also gave English lessons to young adults and volunteered for a local non-profit organization helping migrant children. After graduating from Harvard, Yvonne worked with large international NGOs in Indonesia and the Philippines before joining the International Programs department at NORC at the University of Chicago, a non-profit research organization. There, she honed her research and evaluation skills and eventually joined FHI 360, where she became the Associate Director of Research and Evaluation, supporting dozens of large international development projects. At FHI 360, Yvonne worked closely with several Ministries of Education in Sub-Saharan Africa to strengthen their data systems to improve the quality of and access to education for all children.
Yvonne has always been drawn to the field of education and to coaching and mentoring students. She has been a mentor with the Asia Pacific Islander Scholars Program and a leadership coach for Braven, a non-profit dedicated to supporting first-generation and low-income college students in securing strong opportunities upon graduation. She is also a certified professional coach and brings inquisitive, non-judgmental listening to her interactions with her students to guide them towards achieving their goals.
