Hi! My name is John Ettore and I am a Former Admissions Officer with InGenius Prep, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am currently working in higher education admission at La Salle University, assisting international students with the admissions and application process. In the near future, I will be pursuing my MA in Nonprofit Leadership.
I was born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, and received my undergraduate degree from Lake Forest College, just outside of Chicago, Illinois. I am an experienced admissions professional with 20+ years of experience working with students at both the secondary school and higher education levels. I am also an experienced instructor of United States History & United States Government for international students. My career in education began at the secondary school level where I served as a Director of Admission and Director of International Admission at a few different elite New England boarding schools. I transitioned to a career in higher education admissions in 2018. I have served as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Neumann University outside of Philadelphia, PA, Assistant Director of Undergraduate International Admissions at the University of Delaware, and currently I am the Assistant Director of Admissions at La Salle University in Philadelphia. In my various roles, I have read thousands of applications, in addition to interviewing and counseling students from all over the world.
I am a results-oriented individual and take great pride in helping students achieve their goals. Along with traveling the United States and the world to recruit students, I love presenting and speaking to students about various topics related to admissions. I have presented at numerous conferences and seminars on topics such as navigating the US boarding school and university application process, boarding school or college admissions interviews, preparation for campus visits, conducting a boarding school and college search to find the best fit school, and writing boarding school and college essays, just to name a few!
During the last several years, I have guided hundreds of students to their dream schools! I have assisted students of many different backgrounds and from all over the world to successfully navigate the boarding school admissions process. I enjoy helping students identify and articulate their strengths and uniqueness – or the “wow factor”, as I call it – when building their candidacy for admission to the boarding school of their dream! I believe every student’s journey through the boarding school search and application process is different and unique, and I look forward to tailoring my approach to meet each student’s individual goals.
Outside of work, my interests include following the Philadelphia sports teams and coaching an elite girls U14 ice hockey team. I am an avid traveler, love animals – especially dogs, and enjoy barbequing on the grill. I am excited to take this journey and work together and look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
